Dutch Government private homes takeover

A report from the Netherlands Times of Thurs 22 June 2023 suggests that the Dutch Government will effectively takeover private homes.  NL Times refers to Dutch AD magazine site (You may need to translate the Dutch AD page using Google Translate).

The new Dutch housing act was put forward by housing minister Hugo De Jonge.  It would force dutch homeowners to sell only to people on low to middle incomes (up to 355,000 Euro / £305,000 income). Local authorities can set this requirement on up to 50% of owner-occupied homes .  The authorities can also designate owner occupied homes as reserved for locals or key profession such as teachers and police.

On 23rd June 2023 the NL Times goes on to report  there has been resistance to these ideas, with various coalition parties now voting against it .   However the law may still be enacted but only apply to newly constructed homes.
