Therese Coffey Offshore Energy update

Therese Coffey is the MP for Suffolk Coastal Constituency.  She has recently written to residents of Southwold and surrounding areas about Offshore Energy Infrastructure projects.  Request to everyone - PLEASE SIGN THE PETITION

Summary of what Coffey's letter says

Coffey warns that plans for Energy Infrastructure mean that there is a real risk of cables and converter stations being built on East Suffolk Council beaches.  She  invites you to sign her petition which is asking the Government to:

" review all onshore energy connections along the Suffolk Coast and carry out a comparative study, including already suggested brownfield sites, properly assessing the environmental impact of these connections before proceeding any further".

She mentions correspondence from Graham Stuart (energy minister).  He has agreed not to make any decisions until he has spoken to stakeholders about the co-ordinating and siting of construction. Hopefully Stuart will show up in Suffolk to see for himself the bad impact the plans would have on Suffolk Coast.

National Grid is investigating a brownfield site on the isle of grain in Kent for the Nautilus project  (instead of the Suffolk coast).
