Proposal to dig up Bus Creek and Walberswick beach.

National Grid Eurolink - East Coast Landfall consultation 24 Oct-18 Dec 2022

National Grid Ventures in the UK is partnering with the Dutch Transmission system operator Tennet to connect UK to Holland with a multi purpose interconnector.  The cable would be able to supply up to approx 1.8 Gigawatts of electricity (enough for 1.8million homes) from the Dutch grid (including Dutch wind farms) to the UK.   The offshore platform which converts alternating current to direct current will be in Dutch national waters as it is connecting Dutch offshore wind.

Where will the cable come ashore ?

Several options can be viewed if you scroll down National Grid Eurolink site to "Virtual exhibition and downloadable rescources".  Easton Bavents (Reydon), near the Bus Creek area of Southwold , and Walberswick beach in front of the village, Dunwich beach, are on the shortlist.   Maybe they could add POTTERS BRIDGE to the shortlist and fix the road as a condition of being allowed to install the cable?

There are a number of venues for the National Grid Eurolink consultation events about the cable landfall. This is not a statutory consultation, meaning that there is no requirement in law for it to be held. However , it is a big project and likely to be controversial and therefore it's a good idea to talk to the public about it.  As the project progresses, there is expected to be a statutory consultation in 2023.
Today , Wednesday 23 Nov 2022, the show was at the Waterloo Centre in Leiston.

2 Doesn't seem to be marked on maps ....maybe it is Friston Converter Station?
3 NW of Friston , just outside Saxmundham
4 Take the mid point between Saxmundham & Leiston & then head a North a bit .
