During the introduction Mr Passmore said that per capita funding for Suffolk Police was one of the lowest in the country and that he regularly brings this to the attention of the policing minister as a matter that need reviewing.  However there has been an increase in staff and new technology to assist in response times.

Communication was a theme that was mentioned by members of the public during the meeting .  Some online forms on the police website were not relevant to the matter being reported.  Also it was felt that there were more clicks than necessary to get to a reporting form.

Aspects of speeding was mentioned several times and Sgt Wright (county speedwatch co-ordinator) gave a summary of current measures in the area. This includes 20mph zones and 20mph speed limits (which are enforceable if there is a traffic order in place).

Insp Mark Jackson outlined the action taken in relation to anti social behaviour at Gislenham retail park which had been successful in kerbing problems.

Concern was expressed by a member of the public about higher fuel costs etc impacting police service to the public. Mr Passmore said that they had sufficient reserves for this and he expected no cut backs due to fuel rises.  Spending is within forecasts.
